How to measure your motorcycle rider triangle
A practical input guide for the Rider Triangle simulator: body segments, handlebar coordinates, footpeg position, and uncertainty.
Use one reference point
This model places the hip at (0, 0). Enter horizontal distances to the grip and footpeg from that reference, not from the front of the seat. Forward is positive X; above the hip is positive Y. Footpeg drop is entered as a positive distance below the hip. Do not mix seat-edge measurements with hip-relative measurements.
Measure the segments the model uses
Enter hip-to-shoulder, shoulder-to-elbow, elbow-to-grip, hip-to-knee, and knee-to-footpeg-contact lengths. The forearm field includes the reach to the grip, not only the forearm bone. These are explicit model inputs, not lengths inferred from your height. Record how and where you measured them so a comparison uses the same convention.
Keep seat height separate
The seat comparison subtracts seat height from inseam. It does not solve a standing leg position. Seat width, suspension sag, footwear, and how you stand are outside this model. A positive difference is not a promise that both feet reach the ground.
Make a controlled comparison
Enter the original setup and select Pin baseline. Change one control coordinate or torso-lean assumption, then inspect both the angle changes and the changed-input table. The dashed figure retains the original geometry. Example position buttons replace motorcycle coordinates and lean, not your body measurements; they are not specifications for a motorcycle model.
Record uncertainty, then check in person
Repeat the calculation with a plausible variation in your least-certain measurement and inspect how the result changes. There is no comfort threshold or safety score here. Confirm actual reach, mobility, and clearance on the real motorcycle with qualified guidance before making riding or equipment decisions.
